Open the Window!

Open the Window!  Remember back when your Mom would "air" out the house when you were sick?  As the saying goes...Mom knows best
Recent data and health professionals suggest opening the window to add in fresh air to dilute the viral load in a sick household. The CDC is recommending to open windows to reduce the spread of coronaviruses.
A recent study found that open windows can prevent viruses and other pathogens from spreading. It found a 72% reduction in the transmission of tuberculosis in rooms with open windows and other sources of natural ventilation.
In fact, many developing countries simply do not have access to expensive ventilation systems. Hospitals in these areas often rely on open windows and fans to improve natural ventilation.
As Covid-19 cases continue to rise in the U.S., alongside the peak of cold & flu season, public health officials are increasingly promoting the benefits of open windows and fresh air.

Staying Immune Strong during these challenging times requires a comprehensive, wholistic approach.  Everyone should continue with practices such as handwashing, good nutrition, sleep, social distancing, etc.  Opening a window when weather permits is another useful tool in staying immune strong.
